Best Comfort Trail Running Shoes of 2015

To conduct our 2015 comfort trail running shoe test, test director Jacob Waltz recruited multiple seasoned testers who used these shoes while running anywhere from 5-20 miles on a variety of terrain including single track, groomed trail, and dirt roads. The team compared them side by side rating them on our five main criteria—comfort, speed and agility, security of fit, responsiveness, and stability. The Gear Institute Rating is the combined score across all categories, representing the highest overall level of performance.

The shoes were also tested at Heeluxe, our running shoe test laboratory partner based in Santa Barbara, California. Heeluxe used it’s specialized laboratory equipment to measure the breakdown of the shoe after 150 miles, as well as measurements of responsiveness, cushioning, and heel drop.
